Weird Ways To Stay Committed To The 2-Minute Brushing Routine
Sure, you brush your teeth.
But 30 seconds just DOESN’T cut it.
We understand that it gets a little tedious sometimes. And this is the 21st century – do we actually think anyone can focus on anything for two whole minutes? Absolutely not.
Things get pretty busy, and those extra five minutes of sleep are so valuable. We know that you clever cookies get a little creative about how you spend these two minutes a day, twice a day. So we thought we’d take this opportunity to share some of the weird-but-actually-practical things people in their daily dental care routines:
Shower
The shock! The horror! The toothpaste on the shower floor!
But let’s be honest here. When it comes to speeding up your morning routine, this is pretty productive. Just be careful not to slip when you spit your toothpaste out.
Text or Email
This one’s pretty obvious. You can’t call your boss or yell at your kids when you have a mouthful of toothpaste. So you text!
And hey, while you’re at it, why don’t you send a message to your mom. She misses you.
Lip-Sync To Your Boyband Favorites
What? We don’t do this. We are professionals.
Okay but Justin Timberlake and the rest of NSYNC make great toothbrushing partners. And “Bye Bye Bye” will put you in a great mood for the rest of the day!
Stretch
Some people are perfectly ready for their yoga class when they’re brushing their pearly whites.
If you don’t already do this, it might actually be a good habit to get into. Especially since these are both activities that should be timed. So make sure you hold that stretch (and that toothbrush) for at least two minutes!
Work out
For those of you majestic creatures who can do lunges and squats while you brush your teeth, lunge away. We recommend thirty reps, each leg. Aaaaaand go!
Scroll through Instagram
We all have those moments when we’re scrolling through our newsfeeds for a minute or two, only to realize that days have passed and seasons have changed.
That might be a bit of an exaggeration. But there’s no denying that time seems to pass quicker when we’re catching up on social media. So this is definitely a great way to pass the time when you’re brushing your teeth. Just try not to choke when you see a video of your uncle’s wife’s best friend’s dog doing something funny.

If you feel like you can’t stand still and just focus on brushing your teeth for two minutes straight, you are not alone! Those weird things that people do to pass the time aren’t so weird when you realize how much you’re getting done – and how much cleaner your teeth are.
It’s important to remember that just because you have your two-minute routine down to a science, doesn’t mean that you can skip dental visits!
